Forging On by Catherine Robinson

About this copy

Will is a Yorkshire lad through and through who loves the outdoors. When he leaves the classroom behind to start as an apprentice farrier (blacksmith), his first few days are a complete baptism of fire! Between his uncooperative fellow apprentice and a gruff, muscle-bound boss named Stanley who mercilessly mocks his tea-drinking habits, Will finds himself barrelling around the Yorkshire countryside in dodgy vans. Over the course of a chaotic year, the trio forms an unlikely brotherhood, and Will learns that country life has far deeper lessons to teach him than just how to properly shoe a horse. A charming, lighthearted, and hilarious read perfect for fans of James Herriot’s All Creatures Great and Small, Countryfile, and The Shepherd's Life.
