Untitled by Matt Baker

About this copy

touching, beautifully written celebration of country life, family bonds, and the true power of the natural world. Away from the bright lights and bustling studios of Countryfile, The One Show, and Blue Peter, beloved television presenter Matt Baker is at his absolute happiest when he is out on the farm. In this heartwarming memoir, Matt takes readers on an intimate journey through the changing seasons—from January to December, Spring to Winter. Writing directly from his family farm in Hertfordshire, he shares his daily routines, his close-knit family life, and the deep, grounding relationship he has built with the British countryside. Beyond his southern farm, the book also chronicles Matt's emotionally charged rescue mission back to the rolling Durham hills to save his parents' organic sheep farm—a journey captured in the hit television documentary series Our Farm on the Dales. Peppered with Matt’s own hand-drawn sketches, unforgettable memories from his broadcasting career, and profound reflections on nature, this diary offers a healing, nostalgic look at a landscape you will fall in love with. It is the story of how a life spent among green fields and farm animals can shape exactly who we are. An inspiring, comforting, and deeply authentic look at the realities of British farming, perfect for fans of country life and natural history.
