About this copy
The novel follows the intellectual and personal development of Lyova Odoevtsev, a young literary scholar living in Leningrad. He works inside Pushkin House—the renowned Institute of Russian Literature. • The Core Plot: While the surface narrative follows Lyova's messy, obsessive love affair with a woman named Faina, the true heart of the book is a dark, parodic investigation into the corruption and stagnation of Soviet intellectual life.
