Ruby by Virginia Andrew

About this copy

The plot follows Ruby Landry, an innocent and artistically gifted fifteen-year-old growing up in the lush Louisiana bayou. She is raised by her beloved grandmother, Catherine—a Cajun spiritual healer—and her abusive, alcoholic grandfather, Jack. Ruby's world is full of promise when she falls into a deep romance with a wealthy local boy named Paul Tate. However, her world shatters when a series of dark family secrets are revealed: • The Forbidden Love: She learns a shocking truth that forces her to separate from Paul. • A Lost Twin: On her deathbed, Grandmère Catherine reveals that Ruby has a twin sister, Gisselle, who was sold off to a wealthy family at birth. Following her grandmother's death, Ruby flees the bayou to escape her grandfather and travels to New Orleans to find her biological father, Pierre Dumas. She is thrown into a cold, opulent world inside his massive mansion, where she must survive a cruel stepmother, a bitterly jealous twin sister, and a toxic web of madness, lies, and deception.
